5 Minutes with Stylist Sam

How did you get into your hairdressing career?

I started off as a Saturday boy whilst I was studying for my A Levels. After a while I decided that A Levels weren’t for me and that I wanted to pursue a career in hairdressing.

What’s the best thing about being a hairdresser?

The best thing is making people feel good about themselves and getting their confidence back. I enjoy meeting new clients also as no two days are the same and no two clients are the same.

What’s the best advice you would give to your clients?

If something isn’t right, bring it to my attention right away. It is always easier to rectify at the time. I always want my clients to leave happy and 100% satisfied every time.

How would you describe your hairdressing style?

Fresh and Uptodate. I am constantly updating my knowledge and keeping in style with the latest trends.

What is your favourite meal?

Cheese board

Who are your icons?

Hairdressing wise – Kevin Luchmun because of the approach he has on gents styling and his knowledge which he shares at his masterclasses across the globe. Other than that it is Michael Jordan as he was dropped from his school basketball team but he never gave up and ended up becoming one of the most successful sports icons ever.

Sofa or Gym?

Gym! I would feel unproductive sat on the sofa all day.

What is your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Going to the pub to watch the football with the lads – I support Birmingham City.
